Moderate to Difficult

For those intrepid travellers, who take pride in discovering at their own pace, Wild Gros Morne offers a backcountry shuttle service to the end of Trout River Pond for guests looking to camp overnight and hike the Overfalls Trail.

The world renowned Tablelands and the towering cliffs of North Arm Mountain provide the perfect backdrop during our exciting 60 minute boat ride. Our Backcountry Shuttle provides adventures access to remote boat access only areas of the Tablelands and Gros Morne’s newest hiking trail, the Overfalls Trail. This area is teaming with wildlife. Caribou, moose, bear and arctic hare all call this section of the park home and are often seen while exploring the area.

Spend the day discovering this remote region of the park. Stop for a meal in the mountains while enjoying the amazing vistas provided by the Tablelands. Cool off after your hike with a refreshing swim in the crystal clear spring fed river found hidden amongst the forest. Discover the night sky and see stars you didn't even know existed as you spend the night in this special part of the park.

Didn't take your camping gear?

No worries, ask Wild Gros Morne staff about our selection of high quality camping equipment rentals.

*Please note the weather conditions in the fjord can change rapidly and although very unlikely, the shuttle may not be able to return for a pick up until safe to do so. Explorers should check the weather and plan accordingly to spend the night if needed.

*Scheduled pick up times are arranged in advance and must be adhered to; lateness may result in a missed shuttle.

We suggest guests check the weather and dress for it. Having a day pack with water and a snack, a rain/waterproof jacket, semi-warm sweater and comfortable sturdy footwear suitable for both hiking and our exciting open boat adventure is recommended.

Weather Cancellation Policy

The weather in Newfoundland can change frequently and at Wild Gros Morne we check the weather more than most people check their Email. Experiences may be adjusted or  cancelled if necessary to ensure the safety of our guests and staff.
